Composting is microbiological process. During composting organic residues are decomposed under controlled aerobic conditions. Extensive microbiological, chemical and physical transformations are involved in the composting process. Compost stability and maturity are widely used terms to describe compost quality. Many methods for the evaluation of compost stability and maturity have been described in the literature. The most common applied methods can be grouped into physical tests, chemical analysis and biological assays. Composting of organic wastes can be a disposal option converting (recycling) of organic waste material to a useful end product.
